Each year the holiday season is kicked off in Honolulu Hawaii with a celebration at the Honolulu Hale (Honolulu City Hall) called “Honolulu City Lights Opening Night”. The event typically begins in the later afternoon with food booths and carnival rides, followed by a Kaaiahao Church concert, followed by a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Honolulu and and electric light parade from Aala Park, down King Street, to the Honolulu Hale. The event is free, but there is usually a headline performer ticketed concert after the main event.
The 2013 Honolulu City Lights Celebration opening night will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2009, beginning at 4:00 p.m
